What do Texas rules say about a rental turnover?
Three Texas Property Code rules shape the time between tenants:
- Rekey the locks: the landlord must rekey the locks within 7 days after each tenant turnover (Tex. Prop. Code §92.156).
- Deposit deadline: the landlord must refund the security deposit within 30 days after the tenant moves out (§92.103).
- Wear and tear: the landlord may not keep any part of the deposit for normal wear and tear, and must give an itemized list of deductions (§92.104).
